Busia's things

My Grandmother, AKA Busia, passed away in December of 2005. I have a few items of hers that she always had around her house so I thought I'd take pics of them.

I'm pretty sure this bottle held holy water she got when she met the Pope at the Vatican. This was a long time ago, before Pope John Paul II, I think the guy before him or even the guy before him. Either way...this bottle is old.

I'm not sure what this material is - raw jade? It looks like jade to me, it's so pretty, whatever it is.

A gold box....

Beautiful detail.

This ring is signature Busia - she wore it for years - turquoise was always her thing. After her husband died, she spent a lot of time with her sister exploring Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico. I think she's the reason there's no more turquoise left out there.

New pics...it's been awhile

Not sure if anyone checks here anymore, but that's cool!! I haven't had much time to get out and take pics, but here's a couple.

A sunset the other night, it was so pretty so I tried to isolate just the cloud colors.

Week 4 (?)

I'm not sure how long we've had the camera, hence the question mark. Shawn got me flowers for our anniversary and I was able to take some beautiful shots.

Ah! A bee!!

Digital Zoom

I don't know about you, but I've always been disappointed in the "digital zoom" option offered on our other digital cams. But this one, I must say, is highly impressive. The cute cam has a 3x optical zoom, which is great, and then a 12x digital zoom. Here are some pics so you can see how it works.

Here we have the subject (the baby shoe) at a distance of appx 5 feet with no zoom:

With the optical (lens) zoom on it's highest - 3x.

Digital zoom at 5.8x

Digital zoom at 9x

Digial zoom at 12x - the other cams I've had with this feature, at this point, the image is grainy and just poor. But this is nice.

Here are some other fun shots I got today:

(if you can guess what this is, I'll send you a little something)

The littlest things...

These were shot using the 'digital macro' function on the cam. It is for objects 3-10 CENTIMETERS away from the lens. We're talking close, people!

The first three are Shawn's work, he's the one who inspired me to take the pics of tiny things.

My wedding ring - what's amazing is you can see the little flaws in the big diamond! I can barely see those with my own eyes!!

And I love my Coach bags, not as much as I used to, but I still love them.

Flowers and figs

I found the cutest little flowers at my friend's house today. I was able to use a setting on my camera that I couldn't figure out before. These were TINY things, but so cute.

She also has these beautiful roses, too.

These are my geraniums that I'm working hard to keep alive. It's funny how they're light pink with bits of red scattered throughout the petals.

Tiny figs.
